Wildland Urban Interface TREX 2026

The Wildland–Urban Interface Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (WUI TREX) will be held in Kelowna BC, delivered in partnership between the BC Wildfire Service and the Kelowna Fire Department, with support from the Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program.

WUI TREX will bring together fire departments, wildfire management professionals, prescribed fire practitioners, Indigenous fire stewards, and agency partners to strengthen skills, collaboration, and shared understanding of prescribed fire implementation and wildfire risk reduction (WRR) in wildland–urban interface environments. Participants can expect to learn through guest speakers, field trips, and peer to peer engagement. WUI TREX will provide experiential learning opportunities highlighting safe and effective fire use with a focus on prescribed fire planning, ignition, holding, and monitoring practices.
