This webinar from the Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network will feature presentations from Professor Christopher Emrich and Professor Ronald Schumann who have worked extensively on social vulnerability definitions and modeling for a variety of natural hazards, including wildfire. Together, we’ll discuss: what does social vulnerability mean? How are vulnerability models built, and what data is included or missing?
Our speakers will also cover: how the creation of social vulnerability models impacts the maps and outputs that are created (and what an impact that has on grants, etc.); the importance of tailoring vulnerability models to local context and what happens if you don’t include local information.
