Journalists will share their experiences reporting on fire in a variety of mediums. Panelists will discuss the constraints and incentives they face when reporting, including suggestions for building relationships with journalists and communicating effectively with and through them. 

Following a moderated panel discussion, there will be time for audience Q/A.

Panelists: 

  • M.R. O’Connor is a freelance journalist and author of the book Ignition: Lighting Fires in a Burning World. Her work has appeared online in The Atavist, Slate, Foreign Policy, The New Yorker, Nautilus, UnDark and Harper’s. 
  • Roberto Rosales is a photojournalist who has covered wildland fire in the West and a photography professor at the University of New Mexico 
  • April Ehrlich is a reporter covering lands and environmental policies in Oregon and Southwest Washington at Oregon Public Broadcasting.
