A Decade of Stories, Resources, and Perspectives from the Fire Community
For a decade, the Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network has been offering this blog as a platform for practitioners to share their work – from hard-earned successes, to lessons learned – and everything in between.
Since its beginning in 2014, we have published over 680 stories. We’ve hosted uplifting and inspiring narratives, interesting thought pieces, resource roundups, and more. What began as a way to share news and updates from Network staff and members has grown into an ever-expanding collection detailing the hard work and inspiring visions of wildfire practitioners and researchers across the nation, and globe. This blog exemplifies our core value of letting people speak for themselves, and build community through sharing their experiences.
In the fall of 2023, we expanded the blog to represent the larger Fire Networks partnership, which includes FAC Net, the Fire Learning Network (FLN), the Indigenous Peoples Burning Network (IPBN), and Prescribed Fire Traning Exchanges (TREX). Our hope is this blog will live on as a way to review how far we have come in our fire resilience work, serve as a way for people looking for ideas to explore what this work looks like in other communities, and continue to highlight the heart of this Network: the people.
This week, we want to mark this moment – 10 years of sharing stories with our community, and building a better understanding of the experience of fire. To celebrate and take a look at how much we’ve covered in a decade, here are 10 blogs from 10 years, with your voices always leading the way.
