HOW WE WORK
WTREX provide many of the same hands-on opportunities and experiences as other TREX events, but they also provide opportunities for critical dialogue, mentorship, and connection. Participants of all genders are invited to apply, and men make up anywhere from 10-25% of participants, depending on the event.
WTREX has a strong focus on women in fire, but the team also recognizes the importance of diversity more generally. Just as biodiversity lends itself to ecological resilience, human diversity will contribute to the resilience and success of the fire management system. The WTREX team recognizes a need for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, and the team believes in providing a training environment where everyone—all genders, backgrounds and experience levels—is honored and valued.
