HOW WE WORK
The Fire Learning Network is made up of place-based collaborations working in landscapes and communities across the nation, from the Southern Blue Ridge of the Appalachian Mountains to the dry forests of Washington State.
The FLN provides targeted resources to support the functioning and learning of these collaboratives. Staff from The Nature Conservancy help connect regional network leaders to each other and facilitate peer-to-peer learning to help these leaders and their partners create solutions to local problems by drawing on innovations from across the nation.
Foundational Relationships
The philosophy of the FLN is grounded in the idea that building relationships between agencies, tribes, other organizations, and communities is at the core of building a better way of living with fire. Commonly used metrics of success like acres treated cannot be achieved without the collaboration and relationships that make them possible.
Only with equitable and effective relationships is it possible to fundamentally change how communities throughout the United States understand, relate to, and live with wildland fire while promoting the healthy landscapes we all need.
