SUMMARY:Lake Cal-TREX
DESCRIPTION:The Lake Cal-TREX is an EcoCultural Fire Training Exchange led by the Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA) in partnership with Tribes\, agencies\, and community organizations. TREX is an acronym for “Training Exchange\,” and TREX events have taken place across the country and around the world since 2008. TERA has hosted the Lake Cal-TREX in Lake County\, California since 2022. \nThe 2026-27 Lake Cal-TREX will run from September 2026 through June 2027\, and includes NWCG Basic Firefighter/Firelighter (FFT2) and Wildland Fire Refresher (RT-130) trainings in September\, two 5-day fall burn and training camps in October and November\, and continued burn operations during appropriate conditions throughout our EcoCultural fire season. \nFull information: https://www.tribalecorestoration.org/trex

SUMMARY:Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX
DESCRIPTION:Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX will be held in the Canal Flats area of B.C.\, delivered in partnership by the BC Wildfire Service and Ktunaxa First Nation\, with support from the First Nations’ Emergency Services Society and UBC Okanagan’s Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program. \nThis delivery of the third Kootenay-based prescribed fire training exchange (TREX) will bring together wildfire management professionals\, Indigenous fire stewards\, prescribed fire practitioners\, and a range of other partners to strengthen skills\, collaboration\, and shared understanding of prescribed fire implementation. Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX will focus on experiential learning opportunities on live prescribed fire projects highlighting safe and effective fire use with a focus on prescribed fire planning\, ignition\, holding\, and monitoring practices.
