2025 Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX – British Columbia
September 15 - September 26
Building on the 2024 pilot delivery of Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX, the 2025 offering will again be delivered in partnership with Ktunaxa Nation, and hosted by ʔaq̓am on the traditional lands of the Ktunaxa Nation. It is scheduled to run from September 15-26, 2025, in the Cranbrook Zone of the Southeast Fire Centre.
Place-based leadership and knowledge transfer is crucial to the TREX model. The Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX will be delivered with local practitioners, communities and partners, guided by relationships at the Fire Centre level.
This is a learning opportunity to provide a range of candidates with knowledge of prescribed fire including subjects such as planning, operations, fire ecology and fire effects, and the use of traditional fire.
